These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the rental of vehicles by Centro Comercial BV Ltd, trading as Benda 4x4 (NIF 285195409, Sal Rei, Boa Vista, Cabo Verde) — the "Company", "we", "us", "our" — to the customer ("you", "the Renter"). By confirming a booking on this website, you accept these Terms in full. Please read them carefully before booking.

1. Who can rent

  • The primary driver must be at least 18 years old at the time of pickup.
  • The primary driver must hold a valid driver's licence for at least 1 year. Licences issued outside the EU/UK must be accompanied by an International Driving Permit if required by Cabo Verde law.
  • A valid passport or national ID and a credit or debit card in the primary driver's name must be presented at pickup for the security deposit.
  • Additional drivers must be added to the booking in advance and meet the same requirements.

2. Booking and payment

  • Rental prices are quoted in Euros (€) and include VAT where applicable.
  • The total rental amount is due at pickup unless otherwise agreed. Online prepayment may be introduced in the future and, if used, is non-transferable.
  • The rental starts on the date and time specified in your confirmation. Late pickup does not shorten the paid period unless agreed with us in writing.

3. Security deposit

A refundable security deposit of €300 (or equivalent) is required at pickup, payable by credit card, debit card, or cash. The deposit will be returned in full at the end of the rental provided the vehicle is returned:

  • On time and at the agreed location;
  • Without new damage;
  • With the same fuel level as at pickup;
  • Clean and free of personal belongings;
  • With no unpaid traffic fines or tolls.

4. Cancellation and modification

  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup.
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before pickup, or no-shows, may be charged one day's rental.
  • Modifications (dates, vehicle, driver) are subject to availability and price adjustment.

5. Pickup and return

  • Pickup and drop-off take place at our location in Sal Rei, Boa Vista, unless otherwise agreed.
  • A late return is subject to an extra-day charge. Grace period: 30 minutes.
  • The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as at pickup, minor wear-and-tear excepted.

6. Fuel policy

Vehicles are supplied with a specific fuel level and must be returned at the same level. Missing fuel is charged at market rate plus a €15 refuelling service fee.

7. Use of the vehicle

The Renter agrees to use the vehicle responsibly and:

  • Not to drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs driving ability;
  • Not to use the vehicle for racing, motorsport, driving instruction, towing, or commercial passenger transport;
  • Not to take the vehicle off approved roads or beaches without our written consent (this applies to standard cars — quad bikes have separate terms);
  • Not to sublet or lend the vehicle to any person not listed on the rental agreement;
  • Not to smoke inside the vehicle. A cleaning fee of €100 applies to violations;
  • Not to transport animals except with prior consent and appropriate equipment;
  • To lock the vehicle when unattended and safeguard the keys at all times.

8. Insurance and liability

  • All vehicles are covered by third-party liability insurance as required by Cabo Verde law.
  • The Renter is liable for any damage to the rented vehicle up to the amount of the security deposit, subject to any additional insurance purchased.
  • Damage caused by wilful misconduct, gross negligence, driving under the influence, or by unauthorised drivers is fully the Renter's responsibility and not covered by insurance.
  • Personal belongings inside the vehicle are not insured. We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal items.

9. Traffic fines and tolls

The Renter is responsible for all traffic fines, penalties, and tolls incurred during the rental period. Fines received after the rental will be charged to the Renter's card, plus an administrative fee of €25 per fine.

10. Accidents, theft, or breakdown

In the event of an accident, theft, vandalism, or breakdown, the Renter must:

  • Contact us immediately on the emergency number provided at pickup;
  • Contact the police and obtain a written report if the incident involves a third party, injury, or criminal act;
  • Not admit fault or reach a private agreement without our consent;
  • Send us photos of the vehicle and location as soon as reasonably possible.

Failure to follow this procedure may void any insurance coverage and expose the Renter to full liability.

11. Confidentiality of personal data

Personal data provided during booking is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cabo Verde. Any dispute arising from a rental will be resolved by the competent courts of Sal Rei, Boa Vista.
